Summer is not yet over and I’ve been seeking nice flat shoes for my feet. Are you looking to adorn yours in something different and colourful? You might want to check out Patos’ boho shoes. While visiting his grandparents in Argentina, Penn freshman Fernando Rojo came across a shoe stand at a local flea market in Buenos Aires. Behind the stand stood Rafael, a local artisan with incredibly unique shoes. He explained that while tourists loved his shoes, Argentina’s lagging economy made business struggle.
Fernando founded Patos to sell Rafael’s shoes to the world – to give opportunity. They’ve since partnered with over 20 artisans and continue growing. Also, they found that by crafting shoes in developing economies, we may encounter artisans without the essentials to sell in the global market, such as computers and bank accounts. To combat this, they’re working with developers in Argentina to build an Android app that lets artisans sell their shoes through their web platform using nothing but their phones.
It’s not everyday that you find a cute pair of shoes with a unique story behind it. However, Patos’ boho shoes gives you just that.
